( Back )

Answer #1:

Do it a favor and put it out of its misery. if i was starving, old, missing an eye and had an infection(?) in the empty eye socket i would be begging for someone to end me quick and painless.

Answer #2:

Wet the food call your local vet (Ask your parents) she if you have any local clinics. Say you cna provide a home for the cat but not sure if can pay huge amount to help him.

My cousin owns a vet and she'll help cats for little charge if he/she is a stray..

Answer #3:

Well You Could Give It A Bath 4 One I Would Give Him Dry Food And Mix It In With Some Fish Of Eny Cind i wud take it to the vet and ask it about the eye infecton and see if thers enything you can doe for it or for the mean time get a wet flannal and gently clean round it

Answer #4:

Human baby food is supposed to be okay for cats. It is easy for them to digest, easier than regular cat food. (Just make sure it doesn't contain onions, as onions can make a cat very sick.) I wouldn't feed this soley, however; I would combine it with something else, such as senior cat food. Senior cat food will provide him with the nutrients necessary for an aging pet. Many brands sell senior pet food, so you can buy it at a reasonable price at any place that sells pet food.

Answer #5:

A lot of vets will take in in-pain animals and help them without any charge to you. I found a cat that had been squished under a garage door once and i brought it in to the nearest veterinary office and they immediately took it in. they are animal lovers and won't turn away an animal just because you are unable to pay. try it.
good looking out, and thanks for caring. :)

Answer #6:

I am glad you want to help the cat.

It sounds as though the cat has some very serious issues that need prompt veterinary attention. The cat needs not only plenty of good food but veterinary care as well.

It could be that the cat is not old at all, only malnourished and ill. So to say he is going to die soon is only true if he gets no food and care.

If you call your city's animal control they may come pick him up - and they will kill him, sorry to say. Most city pounds keep an animal only 7 days and if it is not adopted they euthanize it. And a cat with issues would be put down right away.

The ideal situation would be if you could find a cat rescue group in your area. These would be either independent individuals or groups of cat people or members of an organization. They would have somewhat more resources to get the cat checked out and treated by a vet and fixed up if that is possible.

If you really want to help this cat you should start Googling and try to find such people or groups near you. You can start by separately Googling, with your location in the search, the following : "cat rescue", "stray cat rescue", "animal rescue". You don't want anything that comes up that is affiliated with any pounds or kill shelters.

One other resource that can help you indirectly, you will still need to call around, is this one:

Use it to find shelters near you. You need to call them and describe the condition of the cat and make sure that they would not be euthanizing him. You could also call shelters and ask if they know any individuals in your area who do cat rescue.

You can also use the PetFinder site another way, not for the purpose it was intended. The link I gave was for the shelter page, go to the adoption pages for your area instead ( input cats, of course). Then go through the individual cat listings looking for those who are being offered for adoption from foster homes or by small rescue groups. Call those people.

They are people who love cats so might either be willing to help or know some other person who can.

If you post more questions about this poor cat please include you location. Someone might know about resources near you.
